Frodo is the main character because he has to bring the ring and drop it into a pit of lava and then orcs won't come anymore. Frodo even has a sword that lights up when orcs are coming and will alarm to get more people to help or hide somewhere safe. He has a guardian that keeps after him but not a big person.
